Mild steel piping is an essential element of many areas of Construction, Engineering and welding, plus others. Based on the carbon element, iron can be divided into high, medium or low-carbon steel and the higher the carbon content the harder the iron, the poorer the toughness, and the easier it is to break!

Low-carbon steel is commonly rolled into angle and channel steel, I-beam, steel pipe, steel strip or steel plate, and is used in various building components, containers, boxes, furnaces and agricultural machinery.

Angle iron, which comes in varying lengths and sizes, usually falls under the category of structural steel and is often used for repairs which need structural strength but relatively little weight. The metal is bent into an L-shape and the bend extends the length of the iron, creating flat services which extend vertically and horizontally giving it strength in both directions.

Sizes are commonly measured by the thickness of the iron and by the size of each leg of the L and Angle iron pieces are available in lengths of up to 8 feet. Lengths can be cut with a chop or hack saw.

Angle iron pieces are often used for structural repairs and angle iron can be attached to wood frame members to add strength. Drill holes through the angle iron to attach it to the wood. Also used for constructing fencing the angle iron pieces are usually welded together to form a frame in which a fencing material is mounted. The same methods are used to create frames for signs or even art items.
